An Abusive Partner Will:

  • Yell at you or make you feel guilty, depressed or bad.
  • Make you feel bad or disgusted about you.
  • Threaten you.
  • Act jealous.
  • Push, slap, hit, kick, choke or bite you.
  • Wreck your things.
  • Say things sexually that makes you feel disgusted or uncomfortable.
  • Make you feel like you have to walk on eggshells around them.
  • Say that their behaviour is your fault.
  • Make fun of you or scream at you.
  • Force you to perform sexual acts.
  • Become easily angered, show a bad temper and “lose” it around you.
  • Make you feel afraid by the way he looks (his expressions).
  • Abuse your feelings, making you feel like you’re crazy, use constant mind games.
  • Make you feel like you’re all alone, controlling who you see, what you do.
  • Always make light of the abuse and not take your worry seriously.
  • Deny the abuse even happened.
  • Use the children to make you feel guilty.
  • Be very bossy.
